i really like this board.

That's the issue. Anyone who sets themselves up as GODs voice here on earth ... has got to be suspect. But its good that you are researching and discovering things for yourself, Holly ... keep doing that.
I'm new, but I doubt anyone would try to chase you off the board for doing exactly what the Witnesses don't want you to do ... which is think for yourself and ask questions.

i posted yesterday or day before regarding my anger at my wife being shunned the day after her father died.. in fact it was a very deliberate shun by 3 women who went out of their way to brush right past my wife.. i saw 2 of them today and went up to them in the school playyard and said very loudly for all the parents to hear:.
"i would like to thank you both for your condolensces and for walking right past my wife when her father had just died.. true christianity??

it just takes one incident to plant those first seeds doubt. i mean, it should go without saying that you'd support someone at their lowest point. Your husbands statement was bombshell, considering the other elders showed up too ... with tiny questioning seeds in the minds no doubt.
'What would Jesus do?' That's a great line when it comes to shunning. No witness could answer that honestly and still continue the practice.

my older sister, always a devout jw, or so we were led to believe......recently left home and went to live with her boyfriend!
hubby and self are faders, fading very nicely so far.
we went round for sunday dinner at my parents, who are devout jws and they had also invited my sister and her boyfriend.

I wonder if he wears those little pants with the butt-cheeks exposed to meetings? Or field service?

i thought of a question i'd like to ask my sister-in-law (who's a fanatical dub).
i'd like to say to her: "...if it could be proven to you beyond any doubt that this was not the "one true religion", would you still go to the kingdom hall?...
i figure it's a catch-22 that really ought to make them stop and think.
I had that conversation as a teenager. I remember it planted those little seeds of doubt just at the possibility of such a thing. But I wasn't the norm ... that doubt as to its validity, though a little sickening, was a bit of a relief as well.
Because the 'bloom of youth' had me by the chestnuts, and for the first time in my life, I entertained the notion that just maybe I wasn't gonna be disemboweled at the Big A.
I say go for it. Circular logic or no .... plant the seeds anyway, and pray they sprout.

I know it must've felt good blasting them like that. And although it might seem that such words are like water off a ducks back to dubbish types, I believe even they can't turn their minds completely off. Things said stay there ... like a little leech of doubt sucking at their brain.
It's like a Judge saying 'The jury will strike the prosecutors last remark.' Can't happen. Seeds are planted ... ones that may take years to bloom, but they're in there.

but then it wavers the weak point about the bones not being in the same spot so 'no one on earth' knows. how difficult would it be to connect layers of rock from different areas ... to verify a similarity in the time frame?
if man and dinosaur walked the earth together, one of these creationist guys would be more than happy to shove the proof down the throats of the evolutionists.

Okay ... so they say that the climate change after the flood screwed up the RC dating ... so when are they supposing that Dino's walked the planet? With people ... slightly before?
And the idea that Dino's were here just to keep the vegetation under control and there were no meat eaters is malarky. All those canines teeth and raptor claws weren't necessary to eat peas.
